Tekeurope moved into a new larger headquarters in early 2020 after purchasing it back in mid 2019. Prior to the move a great deal of work and investment went into the building in terms of infrastructure and layout, allowing departments to streamline processes and work more efficiently. A series of improvements have continued since the move, the latest of which is a completely new roof for the building, complete with solar panels.

The new roof will offer a number of benefits to the company. The improved design will aid in the buildings insulation, reducing heating costs and making the building more energy efficient. The solar panels are thought to be able to generate enough energy to cover the company’s complete electricity usage.

The work is to take place in 2 stages with the 2 halves of the roof replaced on subsequent weekends with the solar panels installed afterwards. In preparation safety netting has been placed across the ceiling and the warehouse waterproofed with plastic covers in orders to protect stock from any potential water damage.

8/3/21 Update

The first weekend saw the replacement of the left half of the roof as it appears from the entrance. This half covers the majority of the warehouse along with the canteen and meeting room. Staff returned on Monday to 2 very contrasting halves of the building.

22/3/21 Update

After the weekend of the 13th and 14th fell victim to the weather, work resumed last Friday on the remainder of the roof.

The 2nd half is now complete and the warehouse floor cleaned, the netting has also now been removed. Only a little bit of work on the insulation and guttering is now required before the installation of the solar panels.

The next stage of the work involved fitting solar panels, which you can read about here.
