On Wednesday the 13th  of October the members of the film club went to see No Time to Die, Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond. Although the film only just came out in cinemas, the members of the film club have been waiting to book their tickets since last year. With developments that came with Covid-19, blockbusters such as James Bond have been pushed back time and time again. Until its final release date on the 30th September 2021 and it seems it was worth the wait.

The film has now claimed the club’s number 2 spot on the chart, making it the second-best film the club have seen over the past year, just have a read of some of their reviews;

John Barrett – “ One of the BEST in the top 7 – (007)”

Sam Palk – “ I really enjoyed the film and it was a good end to the Daniel Craig era, however, I do feel like there was a little more room for character development – particularly Lashana Lynch (007 agent). I would also say that it was almost getting too futuristic in parts and the main villain was lacking a certain something but I think this may have been more down to the storyline restricting him – I feel like he was perhaps too far removed from the action (I think he should have killed either the mother or daughter to reinforce his character).

Aiden Barrett – “Talk about leaving on a high!  With this film being Daniel Craig’s final outing as Bond it wraps up the story nicely coming full circle with call-backs to all of his prior films (apart from quantum of solace) starting with him remembering Vesper at the start of the film and then later having a mission with Felix Leiter.  Although it was nice to see the story wrapped up with all its key characters it did seem that because of this the villain felt disconnected and irrelevant with no strong connection to James and next to no chemistry or charm, unlike (Christoph Waltz) Blofeld who commanded the room for the 2 minutes he was in the film.

All in all, it was a well-polished film finishing off the storyline Daniel Craig’s Bond, which introduced some new and interesting characters who could get a spin-off, of their own in the future who knows.”

With some of the members working from home we ensured that everyone got the opportunity to see the film having them go to their local cinema. With them, of course, taking a photo of them at the cinema as proof.

With this trip being the success that it was the club have said that they are looking forward to the next event that they do and who knows maybe they will see the next person to take the mantel of James Bond.
